Once upon a time, Silkroad Online was more than just a game.
We would come home from school, work, or whatever else life had waiting for us, sit in front of our computers, and wait for our character to finally connect to the server.
Sometimes, just getting into the game after waiting for what felt like forever was an achievement on its own.
The crowded streets of Jangan…
Stalls lined up everywhere…
Long journeys toward Hotan…
Traders, thieves, and hunters crossing the same roads…
The excitement of seeing a valuable item drop…
And perhaps most importantly, the people we met along the way — some of whom stayed in our lives for years.
Back then, we didn’t know that one day all of this would become a memory.
Walking Through an Old World
When we look back at Silkroad today, we remember much more than graphics, systems, or servers.
We remember an era.
We remember the internet cafés of the 2000s, the countless hours spent with friends, the battles that lasted until morning, the conversations that had nothing to do with the game, and all those nights when we kept telling ourselves:
“Just one more level.”
Maybe you still remember your old character’s name.
Maybe you remember the name of your guild.
Maybe there was a friend you played with for years, someone you only knew by their in-game nickname.
And maybe, even after all these years, whenever you see an old screenshot of Silkroad, you feel the same thing:
“I wish we could go back.”
That is, in part, why JangangHub exists.
Bringing Old Players Together Again
JangangHub is not meant to be just another website about Silkroad Online.
Our goal is to bring together the old players of this game — their memories, their stories, and the world they once knew.
Maybe you haven’t played Silkroad in years.
Maybe you’re still playing today.
Or maybe you’re simply here because you miss the old days.
Whatever brought you here, we hope you will find something that feels familiar.
Because some games are not simply played and forgotten.
Some games become a part of our lives.
For us, Silkroad was one of them.
Our First Journey: The Old Silkroad
For our very first article, we wanted to take a small journey back into the old world of Silkroad.
The map featured in this article represents one of the earliest versions of the Silkroad world — a world that still holds a special place in the memories of many old players.
We also want to give credit to SilkroadSecrets, whose archive has helped preserve information, images, and pieces of Silkroad’s history over the years.
Archives like these allow us to look back today and remember a world that might otherwise have disappeared with time.
At JangangHub, we want to become part of that effort.
We want to bring old stories, images, memories, and forgotten pieces of Silkroad back to the surface.
